Admissions Subcommittee

The Admissions Subcommittee prepares the ranked list of prospective students for the incoming class, and makes recommendations to the Academic Committee about the conduct of the admissions process.
Membership

  • Six elected faculty members: four from the Kansas City campus, two from the Wichita campus 
  • Four appointed faculty members
  • Three medical students: two chosen from the Kansas City campus, one from the Wichita campus 
  • Assistant Dean for Admissions (ex officio, non-voting) 
  • Associate Dean for Cultural Enhancement and Diversity (ex officio, non-voting)

  • Proposing changes in the admissions criteria or processes

Student Promotions and Special Programs Subcommittee

The Student Promotions and Special Programs Subcommittee is concerned with ensuring students meet the standards for academic performance required by the School of Medicine. The Student Promotions and Special Programs Subcommittee also considers and makes recommendations to the Academic and Professionalism Committee concerning requests from students to follow a course of study different from the established curriculum.

Duties

  • Review the grades of all medical students at the completion of each teaching unit
  • Review the academic record of any student having academic difficulties; review may result in submission of written recommendation for probations, suspension or dismissal to the Academic and Professionalism Committee 
  • Recommend to the Academic and Professionalism Committee those students who have satisfactorily completed Phase I of the Curriculum for promotion to Phase II
  • Recommend to the Executive Dean, through the Academic and Professionalism Committee, the list of students proposed for graduation
  • Review and make recommendations to Academic and Professionalism Committee concerning student special program requests and define the standards for satisfactory completion of Special Programs
  • Review and make recommendations concerning any matters of professionalism, including but not limited to aspects of personal behavior, ethics, and intrapersonal interactions with faculty, other students, and patients

The Subcommittee shall meet on an as needed basis.
